REON was founded in 2007. REON is a coined word combining RE-ON. The name REON embodies our desire to grow and accumulate experience.

The founder, S. Arakawa, founded this company after working as an engineer for the electronics manufacturer Panasonic. Initially, we developed products that applied solar cells, LED lighting equipment, etc., and supplied them on an OEM basis.

On the other hand, I enjoyed playing electronic instruments as a hobby and building my own synthesizers. In 2008, I started a small store in Osaka called Implant4, which created a gadget-type synthesizer called "Legend," which became the prototype for driftbox . After receiving it, I began developing electronic musical instruments in earnest. In 2012, we exhibited at Musikmesse in Frankfurt, Germany , and the following year in 2013 , we exhibited at the NAMM Show , successfully creating the impression of REON as Japan's fourth synthesizer manufacturer.

The path that REON took after this was unique. First, we did not expand our sales channels through the Internet or use any advertising strategies. As long as possible, we decided to hide as a mysterious synthesizer manufacturer. We have adopted a sales strategy in which the products are sold only at implant4 in Osaka, and are not available even in Tokyo. At the time, driftbox was secretly used by Eurorack modular synthesizer players who were starting to become popular in Osaka and Kyoto, as well as pioneers of experimental music using synthesizers, and it began to attract attention as a difficult-to-obtain synthesizer. went.

Around 2015, the existence of REON was revealed to many people in Japan and overseas through Mr. Osuga's independently produced film called "Naniwa's Synth World ." Around this time, REON took a complete turn, becoming the first electronic musical instrument manufacturer to engage in sales collaboration, and pivoted toward selling driftbox worldwide. Since its founding, REON has consistently adhered to the principles of "Hand Made" and "Made in Japan." REON's greatest purpose and policy is to continue creating synthesizers that stand out from other companies.
