Luca Turchet (1982) is an associate professor at the Department of Engineering and Information Science at the University of Trento, where he directs the research group Creative, Intelligent and Multisensory Interactions Laboratory (https://www.cimil.disi.unitn.it/).

He earned a degree in computer science from the University of Verona, in composition and classical guitar from the Verona Conservatory, and in electronic music from the Stockholm Conservatory. 

He completed a Ph.D. in Media Technology at Aalborg University Copenhagen and is a co-founder of Elk Audio (https://elk.audio/), a company developing new technologies for musical instruments and remote performance systems. He has authored more than 130 scientific articles in the fields of musical technologies and multisensory interactive systems. 

He established the scientific fields of the Internet of Musical Things and smart musical instruments. He has created numerous interactive musical systems, including musical instruments and devices for audiences. He is the Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee "Emerging Technology Initiative on the Internet of Sounds" and the president of the Internet of Sounds Research Network (https://internetofsounds.net/). He is the founder of the International Symposium on the Internet of Sounds and has chaired international conferences such as ACM Audio Mostly and the IEEE Conference of the Open Innovation Association FRUCT. 

He has received numerous scientific, artistic, and entrepreneurial awards, including a Marie-Curie Fellowship from the European Commission, as well as projects from the European Space Agency and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. He is a part of the board of the Italian section of the Audio Engineering Society and the Italian Computer Music Association. His research interests include musical technologies, artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, perception, and multisensory interactive systems.
